45' Scarlet Oak Planted at Amazon in Seattle

16-Dec-2010 Big Trees Today completed another BIG project this fall, planting a 45' Scarlet Oak at the new Amazon.com world headquarters in Seattle on December 1st, 2010.  The project went well, from digging and preparing the tree in February to tying, loading, and shipping up to Seattle.  Once there, a 95-ton crane moved the 16,000lbs tree into place under the guidance of Terry Hickman (owner) and Felix Reyna (foreman).

The crew positioned the tree carefully, facing it according to the customer's preference, and planted it according to our exacting specifications.  Everyone was happy, and it was another job well done for Big Trees Today.

After digging and basketing the Scarlet Oak in early Spring of 2010, Big Trees Today carefully monitored the health of this gorgeous specimen tree over the course of the Spring and Summer months.

Once the tree was headed safely into dormancy after showing very positive signs of health and vigor, the crew gave the green light to ship the tree up to its new home.

The experienced crew at Big Trees Today was able to tie this monstrous tree down to only 12' wide to get it all the way up I-5 to its new home in Seattle.

Santana Crane loaded the tree onto the truck for shipping at Big Trees Today.

The 95-ton crane hoisted the tree off the truck and into position under the direction of Felix Reyna (Big Trees Today foreman) and with the help of Big Trees Today employees Mario Ibarez and Jake McCallen.

Jake, Mario and Felix toward the end of another job well done.
